The Gospel

What is the Gospel?

The gospel is the good news of God’s grace for a hurting and broken world. At its core, the gospel is what Jesus has done through his life, death, and resurrection to save sinners and set up His Kingdom.

A Good Way that we Like to Think About the Gospel:

Creation
Fall
Reconciliation
Consummation

Creation – God created the world and all that is in it and it was good (Genesis 1&2).

Fall – Man sinned (and still sins), brought about the Fall, which led to the corruption of the world and all the pain/evil we see in our world.(Genesis 3, Romans 5:12)

Reconciliation – God in his grace, decided to bring reconciliation and healing to man. This was accomplished by God’s Son Jesus, coming to earth, living, dying, and raising from the dead. This act brought forgiven for man for their sins, and began the divine act of repairing this broken world and our broken lives, which continues through the power of the Gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 24:44-47, Romans 5:15 - 21)

We take part in this reconcilation by following Jesus in faith and repentence. (Mark 1:15)

Consummation – The work of redeeming and healing the world, begun at the cross & resurrection of Jesus, will be universally completed when he returns to resurrect His people to glory and renew all creation.(Romans 8:18-23, Revelation 21)
